After Dark

After dark
the sound of silence
plagues the naked ear and
echoes in the starlit sky.

The sound of weeping babies
whispers in the ears of teen mothers.
After dark
you can hear the ringing
calling you to sleep

After dark
Blackness cradles the sky
And the sparkling blue ocean
turns cold and bitter.

After dark, the night
is my blanket of silence.
It protects me from my fears and
Guides me through my dreams

After dark, I sit staring at the full moon,
tears streaming down my soft cheeks,
dreaming of the perfect world
Listening to the silence,
After dark.
