Motherhood

You can't help but grin while the heart flutters,
The day they come into our world.
Thinking of their future with joy causes us to shutter.

Through toddler years and all their firsts.
Their teeth, their words, their steps,
But it's leaving home you fear the worst.

But there are those times
when they argue, fight and disobey.
We try our best to raise them right
and send them on out on their way.

Sometimes they don't appreciate what we do.
In their teens, they don't want us around,
but we remember when we were that way too.

They go through school and learn new things,
meet new people and even fall in love.
Before you know it, there's wedding bells and rings.

Time went by so fast, like you knew it would.
The grandbabies start to come,
and it starts all over, the cycle of Motherhood!
