Whispered Words

I remember that night
oh so fondly
As you held me in your arms
carefully…holding…
As if I might break
you whispered so softly
And brushed away my hair that fell
to create a distorted web in which
I could no longer see
shielding me from your captivating eyes
That I longed to stare into
you suddenly pressed your lips against mine
Surging feelings unknown
…love?
As you pulled away, you again
whispered words to my ears
Only this time I heard,
ever so softly
“I love you”
