your words crawl into bed with me
entangle themselves
in the wisps of my hair
wrapping around layers
of guilt and passion
joyous of not having to inch
between another love and me

your words follow me
and gather us together
in your arms
and they affirm us the way
we affirm ourselves

You give your words to me
But they slowly slip away
and I feel lonely
before the first line
after the last
between commas and bedsheets

being strong leaves me weary
a day too long
and a night too short

being soft and loving
leaves me weak
unrequited of your love

the resonating sound
of syllables trapped within my white walls
sneak up on me
in the middle of dreams
I dream they are you

I get lonely
with just your words
to hold onto
