You said you wouldn't go

It was just a fun night
A night out with the friends
Never knowing what was going to happen
That tonight would be your end

We had fun and laughed
But not once did you touch a drink
You wanted to get me home safely
You were smart enough to think

We stayed there for hours
Until i told you i was tired
You smiled and said you loved me
Then our plans backfired

We held hands and talked
Then we stopped at that red light
Then we heard tires squealing
The headlights, they were so bright

Your truck was smashed
I was the only one wearing my seatbelt
But somehow i got out
And beside your body i knelt

I saw your bloody body
You were gasping for air
You looked at me
And i told you how much i cared

I told you that i loved you
And you were the only one for me
I said you picked me off my knees
And without you i wouldnt be able to breathe

I held your hand tightly
Blood and tears running down my cheek
I told you that i loved you
And now another love like you is what i seek

Then your eyes went cold
And you hand went loose
I just couldn't take
This emotional abuse

I knew it was my fault
Because i asked to go home
I never meant it to end like this
With twisted metal and chrome

Screw that guy who hit us
If he just didnt drink that beer
You would be alive and safe
And most of all be here

Forever is how long ill miss you
You always in my heart
I know that you are with me
We're never far apart

Im sorry for what Ive done
I swear i didn't know
But what really hurts
Is you said you'd never go...
