Sonnet of Goodbye

The light of day dwindles
As we sit sprawled on the sand
Deep red sunlight rolled in spindles
Blue water meets the land

Kisses tease my flesh
Your hands linger on my skin
Our bodies gathered like mesh
The song of love begins

No words are needed between us two
We understand what now must come
Saying goodbye is all there's left to do
Closure brought by the setting sun

I look into your eyes once more, the moon the only light
You kiss me softly, wipe my tears, and say to me "Goodnight"
