Through the Trunk of My Car

He came in through the trunk of my car
Along with seven other guys
He asked me," Can you take us somewhere?"
How could I say no to those eyes?

Why did everybody hail him?
What did everybody see?
Partied all the way 'till Sundays
Mondays he could barely read

He said he'd always been a drinker.
He'd dranken thirteen beers that day.
Although I knew he was a bad kid,
I had to help, but it was in vain.
And so he joined my night school classes;
I hoped it wouldn't be a phase
And though I tried my best to help him
I could not tame his same old ways.
