Wings

The hours are but numbered few
As lifetime ebbs toward final shores.
One chance to have this presence known.
Fast etched, forevermore.

Take wing, to soar as eagles do
And stretch the bonds that hold tight reined.
Lest shadows capture wisps of light
That mark thee brightly stained.

Embark sweet dreams as wishes made
With eyes closed, on flames of birthdays past.
Fear not such dreams shall lose full speed
Nor slip from halting grasp.

Go forth with resolution made
While beacon’s flame burns steadfast still.
For time waits not, nor dares to slow,
Nor bends to every will.
